Yesterday I met up with a bunch of people from the Flickr group, Gunwharf Quays. We arranged to meet at the Spinnaker Tower Cafe at 11am, and from there to do pretty much as we wish, and to meet up later in the day at various other places and times. We got special access to the platform above the cafe, directly below the Spinnaker Tower, which we were all there for about half an hour. Loads of us were taking the same shots, it seemed, so I tried to do something slightly different.
After that, I decided to head off and around the shopping centre with Collin and Fiona. Most of the other people went up the tower, but we just strolled around the shopping precinct shooting various things.
That’s me and my reflection, standing still while taking a photo with a fairly slow exposure and zooming at the same time. Neat. After a while, we then met up again and most of us decided to walk around the harbour to Spice Island. It was getting pretty nippy, so I didn’t take any photos!
Finally, we ended up at the Spice Island Inn, directly opposite the Spinnaker Tower, which is where I took this photo from a few months ago. I took a photo of this random door looking well past its best, facing the elements of the Solent after many years I would guess.
A great day though, and not as sad as you might think. I was expecting to meet up with out-and-out Geeks, but instead all of the people there was nice, down-to-earth, genuine people. If you’re from the Portsmouth area, then check out our group on Flickr. It looks like we’re organising another meet up again in the Summer, so come along.
Naturally, I took a bunch more photos, so take a look at all of them here.
