Does anyone have problems with the 720 Traffic? Mine no longer recognises the cable inserted hence I have lost the traffic function. In addition, it's lost the ability to give audible warnings - is it me or is my tom tom due to 'go' out of the window - it's only 4 months old!

Support are about as much use as 'turn it off and turn it back on again'. Seriously re-think if your about to purchase a shit shit 720t.

I have a Go 720. FM transmission of music to car audio is excellent (as long as you use a vacant frequency). If you are in a busy signal area then obviously interference will degrade the signal. Why does everybody want to route their mp3 files from a player through the sat nav and onto the car system. Two x 2GB SD cards cost £10 and will hold 1200 mp3 files at 128Kbps. I just plug these straight into the 720 and use the on boardTomTom Jukebox controller. No cables, No fuss!

Does anyone know if a non ipod (creative) mp3 player can be trasmitted via the audio out thrugh the fm transmitter on my go720? I have tried it and with the car stereo right up i can faintly hear the sound of the mp3 player, yet instructions from the tom tom come through very loud. I am using the jack to jack lead that I plug my mp3 player through my home stereo and surround system etc. Do I need the specific ipod lead? Thanks

Hi Mags, cheers for the comment.

The problem you're having seems to be quite a common problem. I'm hoping that someday, TomTom will be able to sort out this problem in the way of a firmware upgrade, but seeing that this issue has been going on for a while, I don't think so. Its simply because the 520 or 720's don't have external mic's.

Its quite annoying. No doubt their next TomTom satnav model will include an external mic which will be the replacement for both the x20 series.

Sorry I can't help further.

Hi,

I have just bought a tomtom go520 my first Sat Nav. The main reason I bought it was so that I could make hands free calls. However I can't hear the other person and when it eventually pairs up correctly they can't hear me just a really loud buzzing noise.

Does anyone have any ideas? I have a Nokia E65 and 6021 I have tried deleting all other paired devices and starting again..to no avail. I also can't seem to get my phonebook to stay in TT's memory.

I have the 720 and the bluetooth regularly drops my phone, therefore I can not make calls from the TomTom.

I also tested the FM link and this is even more appauling than that of the bluetooth.

I would strongly suggest that you look at the 720 as a means for satellite navigation and not any other entertainment requirements as clearly it does not work (very disappointed)

Hi,
Just bought a TomTom Go 520. It pairs with my BlackBerry Curve; address book worked without any probs, unfortunately it won't read out my SMS, TomTom just supports handsfree calls with BB. (But actually it's all I need)

But I've some probs with connecting my iPod (Video) with the Nav, it tries to connect but nothing happen - any ideas?

Hi, Just to add my four penny worth, i have the VW Gamma radio +single CD player in my car and purchased this http://www.connects2.com/c2search.aspx?catID=42&manID=235&modID=914
as the interference on my tomtom 720 FM transmitter was annoying (am up and down he country therefore cannot find a suitable frequencey to lock on to.The above widget connects into the back of the single cd player and allows you to select cd or when changer button is pressed -input from 720. WARNING-Plays great when 720 is on its own battery power clear and reasonably loud BUT connect the charger and there is an audible whine and buzz as it is picking up interference. Have tried two different cigar type chargers (5volt not 12v-easy to forget!!) and both are the same. Will try a 5 volt supply from the mains to see if it is the chargers causing the fault or the 720. I need to have the charger connected as the bluetooth sound lockout problems that have been mentioned on various other forums seems to only happen on internal battery power.

Jack - If you use the TomTom ipod cable with the ipod-style connector on it, you can hook up the ipod to the Go 720 and it will broadcast the audio over the FM transmitter. With this setup, the only audio it doesn't transmit is the bluetooth handsfree audio. I am not sure if/what works when using the other "audio in" cable that comes with the ipod cable.
